Adobe and apdproxy.exe: Which planet are they from?

I am a great fan of Adobe. I use Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Photoshop, and several other Adobe products. I like them a lot, and I am a very happy customer, as far as the functionality of their programs and their support is concerned.

However, last week I was running late for a morning meeting, and came into my office with just the time I needed to pop off a couple of emails before the meeting started. My machine booted up as usual, but then it stopped. Completely. It took several minutes, since the system was frozen, but finally I managed to open task manager. A little program called apdproxy.exe was using all of the CPU. Extremely annoying! After rebooting my machine, I did not manage to write my emails - not enough time.

Later, this has happened to me a few other times as well. So I investigated this little file. It actually an Adobe file, part of Photoshop. I found a large number of sites discussing it, and a large number of people that had had similar experiences to mine.

Now, my question is is: Why does an excellent producer of software like Adobe release something like that? What is the point in making customers happy with your products and your customer support and then go on and make them so p….ed off with an annoying little program like that - that even is pretty unimportant? Why haven’t you updated it away a long time ago? Any other people here who’ve had similar problems with this program?

So - really - Adobe Inc: which planet do you guys live on? One where customer satisfaction means nothing? Why aren’t you doing anything about it? There’s lots of people discussing this - not only me! Listen, and save some marketing dollars.
